American Silver Eagle Obverse

On the coin’s obverse is a depiction of Walking Liberty, designed by Adolph Weinman in 1916. The design captures Liberty in left-profile relief walking from right to left. In this, Liberty has the American flag draped over her shoulders and carrying branches of oak and laurel in her left hand.

American Silver Eagle Reverse

The reverse side displays a heraldic eagle of the United States, modified by John Mercanti in 1986. On the front-facing bald eagle are a U.S. national shield at its chest, arrows of war on the right talon, and an olive brand on the other talon. Above the eagle’s head are 13 stars in a triangular form.
